About us

Collingham and District Local History Society works to Preserve, Protect and Promote your Local Heritage.

We need your help so we can

  • Develop our community Archive so that we can continue to preserve  and store the documents and items that you donate. To make our Archive inviting and more welcoming for visitors. And, to further our aim of digitising our paper holdings to make them freely available through the internet.
  • Continue to undertake  local research, whether it is through our archaeology, physically recording our environment, recording interviews with local residents or our own archival work.
  • Continue  and develop new ways to educate and to disseminate our research findings and to highlight items and issues of interest.
  • Continue to provide
    • free access to our archives and our free response to enquiries. Also, our free support to local and family history researchers, those researching the history of their house &c and to writers
    • our journal The Irregular  on a break even basis
    • free   access to our exhibitions, large and small
    • our free guided local walks
    • our talks and events on a self financing basis (to educate and entertain)
    • to keep our membership fees at their current low level.
  • To develop new services such as booklets on specific subjects or locations
  • To continue to work with others such as
    • our local (John Blow) School
    • Holme Church
    • on important local campaigns such as informing and joining the multiple opponents to the propsal for a meat rendering plant in the environs of the Norton Disney Roman Villa.

And importantly to remain to be a vibrant and supportive partner in our rich local community sector, and supporting community wide events.

Thank you for your support and good luck!

Yours sincerely.
